Greetings Stonehill Community,
I hope this message finds you well. As the academic year begins to wind down, our instructional weeks have become busier. Congratulations to our P8 students for putting up the wonderful PYP Exhibition that was held on the 20th and 21st of May. After weeks of preparation, consultations and research, the presentations were excellent examples of learning through inquiry, exploration, and collaboration. Congratulations to all faculty and staff who helped them in the process. Our D2 students will be graduating this Saturday, May 22nd and once again, the commencement ceremony will be virtual. Congratulations to our D2 students who were resilient in spite of the pandemic challenges. Your energy, creativity, and support for each other and your teachers were commendable. I am very proud of your university acceptances and good luck in your future endeavours! In the last edition of the Tiger, I had written about how the current pandemic has afforded the opportunity for a gateway to prepare for a post-Covid world in education. We have much to learn from our experiences of the past year and a half with teaching and learning. A useful framework utilized during our transition to a post-pandemic world has been on reflection, resetting, and reinventing what we have learned from our experiences with remote and distance learning. The pandemic has forced many changes in our delivery of instruction and the curriculum, particularly with the use of technology. Discussions such as how have we changed? What has been the impact of the pandemic on us? These can be powerful discussion points as we reflect on the last fifteen months of remote and distance learning. The learning we have achieved during this pandemic presents an opportunity for a deeper interrogation of our mission and vision and this can propel our school, students, and our Stonehill community forward in the post-pandemic. For the time being, however, being safe and observing Covid protocol is critical during the current lockdown. I want to wish everyone a safe week ahead as we continue our remote and distance learning. Dr. Brian Brumsickle Head of School |
