Greetings Stonehill! Thank you, to all of you who participated in the Stonehill Founder’s Day Run, on the 27th of September. We received over 400 registrations from around the world. The proceeds from the event will go towards the Morning Star Ashram, a home for underprivileged children with physical and mental illnesses. It was a great cause and a wonderful reason to get out and get some exercise! Thank you for your support. In the past few weeks, we have learned of possible signs of reopening schools in India as indicated by the Central Government. The details are being left to the individual states in India to decide. We have not heard anything as yet from the Government of Karnataka but we are ready with a tentative plan for reopening. Please know these plans may be subject to change depending on the Government of Karnataka mandate for reopening schools. From the 19th of October to the 6th of November (excluding Dussehra holidays) attendance at school for the high school students (M4-D2) will be voluntary. The current model of consultation between the students and teachers will continue. Remote and Distance Learning will remain in place. 16th November: P1 to P4 students will return to school. At this stage, the whole class will attend as the class numbers are low (Maximum class size is currently 11). Middle school (M1-M3) and high school (M4-D2) classes will work on the blended model (Two days on and two days off). Remote and Distance Learning will continue for students unable to be on campus. The norms outlined in the reopening handbook will be in place. We are also tentatively looking at reopening boarding on the 16th of November. 1st December: P5 to P8 students will attend school using the blended model - 5 days attendance over two weeks. Remote and Distance Learning will continue for students unable to be on campus. The norms outlined in the reopening handbook will be in place. The reopening date allows all of our families and teachers time to get back to Bangalore. We expect all teachers to be in Bangalore from the 1st November in order to complete the quarantine requirements. Newly hired teachers who are unable to acquire visas/flights will continue with Remote and Distance Learning until they are able to so. All teachers and teaching assistants should be ready to come to school from the 16th of November. We know there will be many changes before we start meeting in person. We ask our community to remain flexible during this time of transition. Our greatest priority and concern is providing the safest environment for our community. More information regarding our reopening will be shared once we receive information from the Government of Karnataka. We look forward to the upcoming transition and seeing our students once again. With best regards, Brian Brumsickle Head of School |
