Dear Stonehill Community,
Over the last two weeks, the number of COVID-19 cases in India has been on the rise. On Tuesday night, the Government mandated a statewide order for stricter measures to contain the spread of the virus and will be enforced until the 4th of May. We continue to monitor the COVID active cases closely in Karnataka and in Bangalore. We closed down our boarding prior to the announced Government lockdown, and were fortunate to get our boarding students safely home to their guardians. I want to thank our Boarding parents and nurses in facilitating testing and departures. During this two-week period, online learning will continue for all grade levels. It is very likely that the number of active cases will continue at least until the end of May and could continue into early June. Of course, things could turn around drastically, but based on the number of cases these last two weeks, this trend could likely continue. By next week, we will have more information to share about the possibility of online learning for the rest of this academic year. I am sharing a short video HERE of Psychologist and Author Angela Duckworth who was interviewed by CNN’s Anderson Cooper on why she thinks most of our students will bounce back from the negative impacts of the COVID pandemic. I also found a recently published book helpful for parents, entitled “Distance Learning Playbook for Parents-How to Support Your Child’s Academic, Social, and Emotional Development in Any Setting”. The publishers also have a Kindle version (Wiseman, Fisher, & Hattie; 2020). Click HERE for more information. This weekend, stay safe as we quarantine. Dr.Brian Brumsickle Head of School |
